Benher Signs Crowned Winner of the 2024 Wrap Like Royalty Competition!

 

Benher Signs has taken home the 2024 Wrap Like Royalty title with their award winning transformation of a 1955 Ford F100. A stunning project that celebrates the evolution of signage.

 

 

A union of traditional and modern signmaking

 

The concept behind this work of art was to showcase the journey of signage from traditional hand-painted designs to modern vehicle wraps using the Avery Dennison Digital and Colour Change vinyl. The truck was split into two distinct halves: one reflecting the aged ‘world of signage’ and vintage painted signs of the past, while the other featured a sleek, contemporary black wrap with modern finishes.

Bringing ‘Signage Evolution’ to Life

 

The journey from concept to final product was a demanding 800-hour process, requiring both traditional signwriting expertise and current wrap techniques. Ben and Leigh from Benher Signs dedicated themselves to ensuring an authentic and seamless blend of past and present.

"The design process was all about making sure we got the most authentic look possible," says Leigh.

A key highlight of this project was the exceptional flexibility of the DOL 1480 matte laminate when used with the print film.

 

"We found the flexibility of the 1480 lam on this print film to be quite exceptional. It gave us even more stretch than what we get from our gloss film, which was such a good factor, especially going over so many bowling ball curves on the vehicle," the team noted.

 

 This added stretch made it even easier to achieve seamless coverage over the vehicle’s complex curves, ensuring a flawless, high-quality finish.

Adding to the authenticity of the design, all of the hand pinstriping was laid down with absolute precision, helping to contribute to the exact look the team wanted to achieve. The careful placement of each stripe added to the effect of a hand painted vintage.

The 1955 F100 ‘Signage Evolution’ wrap is more than just a wrap, it’s a tribute to the talent of signmakers past and present. By blending classic hand-painted aesthetics with modern wrapping techniques , celebrating how far the signage industry has come.

Their dedication and craftsmanship didn’t go unnoticed, taking out the Wrap Like Royalty title and earning a top-three global ranking in the Fantasy category.
