Installation Tips for Wall Vinyl
To ensure a successful and durable installation, follow these essential steps:
Wall Preparation:
1. Remove any raised paint buildup to avoid imperfections when applying vinyl.
2. Clean the wall thoroughly using a damp rag with soapy water, then wipe it down with a separate rag and degreaser.
Important Note: If using Avery Dennison Adhesive Remover, exercise caution as it may soften the paint, causing peeling that can lead to vinyl failure.
Testing Surface Energy:
3. Use a low-tack vinyl like Arlon DPF SLX+ to test the wall’s surface energy. This will help determine if the wall film will adhere properly.
4. For optimal adhesion, apply VIPOND’S Self Adhesive Prep Coat, which enhances adhesion and helps prevent the film from falling off.
Measuring and Marking:
5. Carefully measure and mark where the material will be installed to ensure straight application without the need for adjustments once the backing paper is removed.
Application Techniques:
6. For large decals, hinge the material from one side and pull the backing paper out as you install from one side to the other. (as shown in the above video)
7. Use a Rollepro for smooth application and post-heating to prevent edges from lifting and to eliminate bubbles.
